Jerry's in Almaty

The former capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty, is a huge metropolitan area with many tourtist attractions and cosmopolitan restaurants and shopping. Jerry's staying in Almaty for some business ventures.... looks lovely. This is one of the places we were considering living if we were to be residential in KZ, but we've opted to stay rotational and live eventually in STL to raise our family etc... :-)

Azerbajan and Kazakhstan

Jerry's been doing his fair share of traveling around KZ and now he's been in Baku, in Azerbajan for the last week or so. He really like Baku and says he'd consider us living there... but only opposed to KZ it would be better..... the US is still first choice.

Finally getting to do our Ballooning trip... we hope

Well, it's been a year coming... but we've not been able to get up in the air, due to high winds... every time we've tried.... here's hoping we can do it this time.... this was my birthday present last year... it actually turned out quite lovely as we had a sweet leasurely tour around the border abbeys.. because we couldn't fly, but we shall see as we attempt to go it again ... tomorrow... cross your fingers..

Let's start at the beginning..... where is Kazakhstan?

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING..... HERE'S A MAP, SO PEOPLE (NOT JUST THOSE WHO'VE SEEN BORAT) MAY LEARN WHERE KZ IS.... HOWEVER, I DON'T PLAN TO STAY HERE LONG.... AS MOST OF YOU KNOW.... OUR GOAL IS TO BE LIVING A 'NORMAL' LIFE IN THE GOOD OL' U S OF A!!!

Went to the Royal Museum....

I had an hour and 1/2 to kill between meetings and I was parked right infront of the museum, went in to see the picasso exhibit but it was too much moolah, so wondered around and came upon this non permanent installation all about Japan, China and Korea it was really well done. I really want to go to that part of the world. Might be able to soon here... if our plans work out for me to visit Kazakhstan.

This symbol expresses the wishes for a husband and wife to enjoy a happy marriage and many can be found at wedding ceremonies. In a broader sense, its meaning extends to a harmonious combination of Yin (female) and Yang (male).
As you can imagine this symbol spoke to me. There were several art works featuring it in the Korean gallery.

Peg's latest pic

Two Days in Paris, written and directed by Julie Delpy.
I saw an industry UK premier today and I absolutely loved it. This film isn't Oscar worthy or anything but it really was on target for me and I enjoyed it. It's a good relationship, slice o' life story.

Almost Mr. and Mrs.

here's pics from the bbq at our house 2 days before our wedding. Jer-bear and I both love to entertain.

Mission to move....

I thought it would be fun to have this blog for both of us, so Jerry and I can both blog about our lives as we live together, but apart, him in KZ and me here in Edinburgh. Maybe he'll let us know about Kazahkstan, a place not very many of us know about. Anyway, something fun to add to our blog stuff.
